Matching the design of my first desk (see INSPIRATION post: First Desk: A Place to Work) we measured the bottom of the consoles and designed stainless steel plates to be secured with brass screws under each console.
This plate would function to keep out dust and insects (mitigating the issue with the action of the drawers pulling air pneumatically into the consoles), add an additional level of security, and ensure the console frame remains perfectly square.
